What Are PDO Threads?
Are you experiencing loose skin or the effects aging and gravity? A PDO thread lift may be the answer for you.
How Does It Work?
The PDO Thread Lift treatment lifts and tightens sagging skin tissue, using threads made of Polydioxanone (PDO) which is a strong filament fiber, consisting of a few twisted fiber threads. The threads naturally dissolves into your skin after 6-8 months but the effects can last 12- 18 months.
How Does It Work?
The threads integrate into the deeper layers of the skin. Original thread lifts from previous years involved invasive procedures with undissolvable products and consequently became associated with undesirable side effects. However, the thread lift procedure has radically improved over the last decade. Thread lift procedures are non-invasive, temporary, and use high quality products. The PDO thread lift is amongst the most popular aesthetic treatment today.
What are the Benefits?
The main, sought after benefits is lifted skin. However, an additional benefit is that threads help stimulate collagen production in your skin which also helps to give your skin a more youthful look. Lifting the skin will help to pull it taut, reduce wrinkles and give your skin a smoother appearance.
There are a few other benefits of threads! The recovery time after having a thread lift treatment is quick! Unlike a surgical procedure, you can expect greatly reduced down line. The discomfort is minimal and most normal activities can still be carried out after the treatment, such as going out with friends and shopping etc.
The procedure is relatively quick, but the results can last 6-18 months.
You can expect:
• Long-lasting results
• Little risk of adverse reaction
• Little to no downtime
• Minimal to no scarring
• No incision
• Treats several areas of the face
• May be repeated as necessary
• Softens sagging, folding, or hollowing in the mid-face
• Softens jowls along the jawline
• Excellent alternative to surgical options
There are Different Types of Threads!
In fact, there are 3 different types of threads used at Allure Medical Aesthetics, all with different purposes.
These are used specifically for the lifting effect. They are called cog threads that are long and have little barbs to help grab the tissue in the dermal layer of the skin. The tissues is lifted when the thread is pulled. We typically use these in the mid face, lower face and jaw, neck area and for eyebrow lifts.
Mono threads are short little threads that help add support to the treated area, and help stimulate collagen. They are used to add support to the treated area and smooth out skin. This will result in tighter, firmer skin. These are great to use under the eye, around the mouth, to lift the eyebrow and anywhere that there is creepy skin.
These threads are very similar to filler. They are a helix of 8 threads twisted together and inserted under the skin to replace lost volume. They will add volume and help stimulate collagen production for smoother, firmer skin.
Who Is Suitable for The Treatment?
For the most optimal results, the ideal candidate should have a skin layer that is not too thin or too thick and not extremely uneven. The skin should be thin enough so the thread can make a visible difference and thick enough so the threads are not too close to the surface of the skin.
What Preparations Do I Need to Make?
Please avoid alcohol, NSAIDS (such as aspirin, Aleve and ibuprofen/Advil), and any supplements which can thin the blood (including Vitamin E, garlic, ginseng) for 2 days before and after the treatment to minimize bruising.
Avoid swimming, strenuous exercise and going to a sauna for 2 day afters the treatment.
What if I have other procedures I have done or want to get done?
A PDO Thread lift is a great procedure to get in conjunction with other treatments such as lasers, PRP, injectables, BOTOX®, and fillers. The threads can be used to target sagging skin and fillers can be utilized for deep lines to create an overall youthful appearance to the face.
