In fact, there are 3 different types of threads used at Allure Medical Aesthetics, all with different purposes.
These are used specifically for the lifting effect. They are called cog threads that are long and have little barbs to help grab the tissue in the dermal layer of the skin. The tissues is lifted when the thread is pulled. We typically use these in the mid face, lower face and jaw, neck area and for eyebrow lifts.
Mono threads are short little threads that help add support to the treated area, and help stimulate collagen. They are used to add support to the treated area and smooth out skin. This will result in tighter, firmer skin. These are great to use under the eye, around the mouth, to lift the eyebrow and anywhere that there is creepy skin.
These threads are very similar to filler. They are a helix of 8 threads twisted together and inserted under the skin to replace lost volume. They will add volume and help stimulate collagen production for smoother, firmer skin.
For the most optimal results, the ideal candidate should have a skin layer that is not too thin or too thick and not extremely uneven. The skin should be thin enough so the thread can make a visible difference and thick enough so the threads are not too close to the surface of the skin.
Please avoid alcohol, NSAIDS (such as aspirin, Aleve and ibuprofen/Advil), and any supplements which can thin the blood (including Vitamin E, garlic, ginseng) for 2 days before and after the treatment to minimize bruising.Avoid swimming, strenuous exercise and going to a sauna for 2 day afters the treatment.
