What is Latisse?

May 12, 2017

Long lashes highlight beautiful eyes. LATISSE is approved to grow your lashes longer, thicker, fuller and darker in just 12 weeks.

LATISSE is a prescription eyelash product approved in Canada to grow your natural eyelashes fuller, longer and darker.  Visible results happen as early as eight weeks, with full effects in 12-16 weeks.  LATISSE is believed to prolong the anagen phase, which is the active growth phase of the eyelashes.

Who can use LATISSE?

LATISSE is appropriate for almost everyone.  There are certain eye conditions which may prohibit the use of LATISSE (such as glaucoma), therefore, if you have any eye conditions you should consult with your ophthalmologist before using LATISSE.

How do you use it?

LATISSE is used in the evening after cleansing your face, removing all your makeup and after removing your contact lenses.  You then place one drop of LATISSE onto a sterile brush that comes with the LATISSE and gently apply it along the skin of the TOP LID only; along the upper eyelid margin at the base of the eyelashes.  A new applicator is used for each side.

Are there any side effects to LATISSE?

Side effects are extremely rare but, as with any medication, can occur.  There have been reports of permanent iris pigmentation in people using LATISSE.  The pigmentation is brown and typically starts in the middle of the pupil and moves to the periphery.  This is not an issue with brown or blued eyed individuals, but could affect those with green eyes.

It is a good idea to take pictures of your eyes before starting to use LATISSE.

Will I always need to keep using LATISSE?

LATISSE works by lengthening the time that your lashes are in the growth phase.  Once treatment with LATISSE stops, your lashes return to it their normal growth, fall out and regrowth pattern, and return to their pre LATISSE length.

When do I start seeing results?

You may start seeing results by the eighth week and full lash length is usually obtained by week 12-16.  At this time, you may be able to reduce the applications to 2-3 times per week to maintain their length.
